JJ Sleeping

Oil on museum quality, archival ampersand gessobord™ panel - 6” x 8”

JJ has the ability to make me laugh even when times are tough.  He seems to know instinctively when I'm down and this position always produces a smile.  He has been striking this pose since the day we brought him in. This deferential stance is what won Anna over.  It says "Hey, I'm not here to cause any trouble, I just really want a tummy rub."  Have you ever known a cat to sleep on his back?

Reminds me of Degas.

Thanks, Diane, I'm sure you've seen him strike this pose.

Oh Wow! More JJ! He does make you laugh.

Mr. Adams, I just painted my first ever cat painting. When you have some time please visit my blog and check it out.

Bob, Do you mean Edgar or do you own a cat named Degas? Or could it be both? I have had cats named Titian, Vincent and Theo, so naming cats after artists is common among us creative types. I assume you meant the artist Degas, given JJ's obvious Ballet moves.

This full moon and quivering economy seems to leave people a bit feisty recently. I am happy for the smile JJ has brought to me this morning. It is really fun to watch your fan club growing as well. I may not always leave a comment, but I've been tracking you daily... and I love feeling that connection with you. Beautiful work.

Paint on !

Yes, Mark, I was referring to Edgar and his ballet dancers...although this particular painting of JJ reminds me of a Degas painting of a young girl combing her hair. I think it is in the National Gallery in Washington. The painting has a similar composition, but don't tell JJ...we don't want to let on we know he's a masterpiece.

Hi Mark all my cats sleep on their backs with their legs out like they are flying. You captured this pose perfectly
