"Carrousel de Montmartre"

Oil on panel - 5" x 7"
If the French are so mean and unfriendly, why is it that they have so many carousels all over the place? The landscape is littered with them. That seems to be somewhat of an incongruity. Perhaps they are really a fun loving people after all. Well and why not? After all, it was the French that invented the carousel in the 17th century to celebrate the equestrian festival of Louis XIV. I was fascinated with the artistry of the carvings and their bold colors. This one was in Montmartre.

whirling, swirling... ode to Paris... Love the contrast of the horse's harness to muted carvings

When I was a child , it was my favorite thing to do, my parents had to trick me with roads, to not go by a Carousel, like you have observed they are everywhere! good job on the painting and welcome to DP , I am the French women on the DP gallery, but I am friendly!

Thanks for the kind words. I have been to your country three times and without exception have found the people warm, friendly and helpful. BTW - I like your chicken/rooster series. I am astounded that there are no red dots on them.
