"JJ with Flowers"

Oil on museum quality, archival ampersand gessobord™ panel - 6” x 8”

This is my first attempt at getting back on the bike.  I felt a little shaky but I pushed through.  I wasn't going for a masterpiece, just something to build my confidence. Since JJ is my constant companion in the studio, I had but to look back to check my model.  This is not a great reproduction of this painting.  The flowers have more intensity in real life. It's a start.

"Precious? It's been called that before, and not by you." - (Gandalf the grey)

I'm glad you are pleased with the painting, Alice. More than glad - delighted! Of course, how could it fail when my boy JJ was the model?

BTW - That was a Lord of the Rings paraphrase was it not? Here's another - "Well. I'm back" he said. The end.

I don't know about the intensity of the colors of the flowers but I love the adoring glaze of JJ upon his artist "Dad"

Mr Adams, Yes it was... and now that I've settled just a little from cloud nine let me try and tell you why this painting is marvelous... AS you already know from my email "I LOVE IT!" the colors are beautiful... it is so rich and warm. I absolutely adore the flowers... and the palette of all the colors you've placed in here is remarkable!(don't change anything). The composition is daring!
Those eyes and ears are so attentive. The expression of your JJ is faithful. I recognize that you are a true fine artist, not an illustrator which means you must be attached emotionally to your work. I thank you again for allowing me to purchase this wonderful painting from you. I suggest for all your patrons to take a number, get in line and pay you in advance.

It is nothing short of a masterpiece in my eyes.
Mahalo, Alice

Ms. Thompson, If you weren't 6000 miles away, I'd give you a hug. If ever I needed this kind of comment it was now. I painted this painting with you in mind. Your own work is so colorful and the big bright blossoms reminded me of the islands.

You've captured J J he is not with you any more but with all of us from now on and he is ready to give us his full attention. I agree with Alice that we should all get in line behind you to purchase or learn because if your days sometimes are lousy, ours will be terrible. I am honored to be "way" behind you and to look forward to all of our future work. But yours delights the eye more than most, don't ever stop.
Blessing to you.

Dominique. Thanks for the wonderful comments. Fear not. I may have bad days at the easel like the rest of us, but stopping never entered my darkest dreams.

Sylvia, JJ is great. (I kinda like the painting of him, too.)*

Thanks for stopping by.
