"Asta"

Oil on museum quality ampersand gessobord panel 6" x 8"

This piece is much nicer in reality. Try as I might, I couldn't get the subtle coloration to come through. Perhaps It is the late hour. That said, I won't be writing much about this piece tonight other than to say that Asta is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. He is the canine equivalent of JJ and that is high praise indeed. He is also the top dog at my favorite restaurant - The Dogwood in Baltimore.

Well it's beautiful, even if the image doesn't completely represent the original. Some pieces are just difficult to show off to complete advantage, except in person.

Just looked at your work on the blog. Love the work very much. Great color and feeling to these pieces.

Thanks, Diana. I have the most trouble with paintings that have blue tints and orange hues in the same piece. It just won't balance out no matter what image management system I try.

Thanks, Carol. I popped over to your site and enjoyed what I saw. The cat paintings were particularly compelling.

This is absolutely gorgeous - way to capture the spirit of this dog! And I don't even know him...

Thanks, Diane. I'm finally getting my groove back and wouldn't you know - I'm going to Toronto next week. Hopefully I'll return fully charged, although the specter of the cold start awaits me on my return. *sigh*

His face has so much feeling in it. It makes one want to take him home with you.

Oh my gosh. Those eyes! That's how a dog looks at you when you own its heart and it owns yours. You captured it.

Such lovely, faithful eyes! I want to reach out and pet him...
