I didn't get too much of a back story on these little guys. I know that Rover (on the right) has gone to join the morning stars and his owner misses him terribly and wanted a posthumous portrait to commemorate his short life. Short in stature only. Judging from his grey muzzle he had a long and happily life. His notched left ear is a complete mystery. I should follow up on that.

Just love what you've been doing. these guys are great and I love the swimming dog - a la Hockney. And the perspective on the horse and rider is terrific. I don't know if you've seen 007 yet, but if you still want to go, maybe one night next week would work.
Well Mark, there are few adjectives left for me to use to describe how much of a response your animal paintings create for me as a viewer. In the truest sense of the word, they are "masterful". It is as though I could reach out and actually feel the fur of these two - and the expression in their eyes is "real"! I just LOVE them!
My babies are a different breed, but still this reminds me of Peanut (my mascot). Great piece Mark!
