"Champion Piper's Roman Gladiator"

Oil on museum quality, archival ampersand gessobord™ panel - 8” x 8”

I deleted this by mistake so I am posting it again.  Be sure to look down for todays painting which is underneath this one.  It's a shame I lost this to cyberspace, there were some very lovely comments attached that I will miss.  BTW - this is another of Anne Stark's dogs.   You can find them at: www.piperspuppies4u.com

This one really has a very photorealist approach, beautiful lighting effect.

Ho, ho, ho! - Thanks, Delilah.

Thanks, Alvin.

Once a photo-realist, always a photo-realist. I did knock back the depth of field with a blending brush as the painting was a bit flat with the leaves behind him all crispy. I do like a backlit subject.

What a beautiful painting! At first I thought this was a photograph. It also looks like a bigger painting than 8x8. Stunning!

Akiko, Coming from someone that Alice Thompson, justifiably, called "the best animal portrait artist in the world today" that's quite a compliment. Thanks.

Mark,

You will always be the best in show - no matter what you paint.
That is what captivates me with you.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Excellent job!! I am looking to paint a greyhound for my website...do you think they would "lend" me a photo of one of their dogs as a model? This is TRULY one of the most beautiful animal portraits I have ever seen!! Bravo!!!!!!
