"Buster"

Oil on museum quality ampersand gessobord panel - 8" x 10"

One of the saddest things
that I am asked to do this time of year is paint a posthumous portrait of a beloved pet. Having been there myself, I know the pain of losing a longtime (and sometimes not so longtime) friend. This is Buster, who crossed the rainbow bridge this past October.

This may be the last piece I create in 2009. I promise the new year will be full of new, exciting and consistent work (fingers crossed).

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Merry Christmas to you and Mrs. Claus. Looking forward to your art in the coming year! I wonder if JJ gets to ride on the sleigh?

DOOOOOHHHH >> yesterday

how is it that every year I get so close to catching your birthday on
the right day- only to miss you by a bit- or email the day before.. or
call the day after.
I get your birthday mixed up- even though Face book tells me so-
today! (It is now tomorrow though- where you are) and I missed ya again
this year !

I love you DAD- I thought of you all day... and was just waiting for
that right time to call that didn't come. soon :)
Hope it was magical and that you get your birthday wishes swiftly and
with ease.

Happy Happy one to ya!
Love,

Mark!

I like that you pumped a lot of colors into this painting to help break up all the white in Buster's coat.

Happy New Year to you!!

No problemo, Holly. This week has been crazy for me too. Kiss the kids for us.

This is beautiful. It is sad when we lose them. This is a lovely tribute. Your paintings are gorgeous, and I'm envious of your new studio space. Awesome!
best regards,
Liz

Thanks for taking the time to write Liz. One of the wonderful things about the internet is that one can connect and interact with other artists - their triumphs, their struggles, their passion. Sorry to hear about what you are going through with your mom. I lost my dad to Parkinson's Disease and the accompanying dementia so I can imagine what you are going through. Hang in there. Your work is lovely.
