I know what my regular blog readers are thinking; WTF, I’ve seen this painting before. Well yes, you have, but I did this painting before hooking up with http://www.dailypainters.com/ and this is the only way I can get it into my gallery and still have people comment on it without having them search for it. OK, I didn’t get into the studio today, but then you knew that. C'est la vie.
Glad you posted this - I'm relatively new to your blog, so I haven't seen it before, and all I have to say is: Fish lips!!!!:)
ReplyDeleteThanks, SM
ReplyDeleteThe nice thing about this blog business is that one is continually discovering new creative people to bounce things off of. Since painting eats up most of my time, I seldom have time to go exploring creative cyberspace on my own, unless prompted by a comment. As I have said so often, comments are what keep me posting (OK, selling my work is nice, too) I did take the time to visit your site...very nice! I like the way you handled the cherries and the “gold and...” series is great. “Candlestick and Plum” has a Cezanne feel to it.
I see you went to MICA; Do you miss Baltimore? (Or at least the Mount Royal Tavern?)
This is brilliant. I adore it.
ReplyDeleteComing from you Jelaine, that means a lot. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMark,
ReplyDeleteI love the way you paint fish. The cod are so shiney milky. The salmon is dabom.
Thanks, Rick. What is it about slimy subjects? Oysters, fish, compost...it's all good. I guess I’m from the Flemish school of painting (or is that phlegmish?)
ReplyDeleteLove this painting, Mark! The ice is superb. I love your work and your blog. Your lovely personality comes through. I like you! : )
ReplyDeleteDoris
Thanks for the kind words, Doris
ReplyDeleteWow. This is scary and beautiful. I can really feel the fish coming up out of the ice. Nice perspective. I really like the rich color variations in the fish heads. :)
ReplyDeleteBTW- I just realized like a dummy I didn't have you in my listing great daily painters. so just added you. :)
Thanks Jeff!
ReplyDeleteDuh, You are not on my list either and you are the only artist on the daily painters site whose work I have bought! I will fix that tonight. I never think about that list. There are so many great artists on the daily painters site, I only add people to the list if they ask to exchange links.
